Meet Matt Karzen
After graduating in the top 10 percent of his law school class in 1995, Matt spent the next decade as a felony prosecutor, first in Colorado, and then in Athens, Georgia. During that time, Matt worked in both urban and rural settings, handling all matters of criminal investigation and prosecution, from minor alcohol and traffic offenses, to murder, racketeering, narcotics/weapons, sexual assault and fraud.
From early 2000 through late 2002, Matt led the Gang Prosecution Unit at the Colorado Department of Law, Office of the Attorney General. In that position, he handled complex statewide racketeering prosecutions against organized crime. He was awarded the State Gang Prosecutor of the Year award for Colorado.
With extended family living in Georgia, Matt and his family moved to Athens in 2002, where he worked as the Chief Assistant District Attorney for Georgia's Western Judicial Circuit. In January, 2006, Matt left government service and opened Matt Karzen, LLC.
